Relax. Go Deep. Heal.
zen shiatsu
Zen Shiatsu is a transformational form of Oriental Body Therapy. It is deeply rooted in Traditional
Chinese Medicine. The origin of Shiatsu can be traced back to 300 B.C. It combines acupressure,
assisted stretching and many different techniques for the purpose of restoring balance to your
body, mind and spirit.
Zen Shiatsu works with meridians (energy pathways) within the body. Like acupuncture, specific
points known as tsubos, are treated with finger pressure. Other techniques include palming, use
of arms and legs (to apply pressure to your body), vibration and tapotement (tapping). The
intention is to release blockages of energy. If left undisturbed, the blockage becomes stagnant
and eventually can result in disease. This can appear in myriad ways: fatigue,
headaches/migraines, back and/or neck pain, other physical pain, emotional upset, depression,
irritability, tmj, etc.
Everyone can benefit from Zen Shiatsu. There is no need to have a problem to enjoy the benefits
which include increased vitality, clarity and wellness.
Benefits of Zen Shiatsu
Stimulates the body’s systems, (aiding in more efficient functioning) releases toxins, releases
muscle tension and creates an environment for deep relaxation.
Helps cultivate self awareness and self healing.
Relieve stress and tension, headaches, back and shoulder pain. It also improves digestion and
stimulates blood circulation, the lymphatic and endocrine systems.
Regular treatments encourage balanced energy flow resulting in an overall rejuvenated feeling.
Loose fitting clothing is highly recommended since this restorative massage is received fully
clothed on a futon. This allows for a full range of motion and stretches that feel great and get to
those deep places needing attention. This modality can also be received on a massage table if
you prefer.
Zen Shiatsu can have a profound effect on an individual’s healing process. This healing,
compassionate touch in conjunction with making healthy choices can contribute greatly to a
harmonious life and good health.
CranioSacral is a gentle, non-invasive healing modality that works with the body’s own inner
healer. The Craniosacral System is comprised of the bones of the skull, face and mouth, known
as the Cranium, the dura or lining of the brain and spinal cord and the sacrum and coccyx
(tailbone). The keystone of this system is the CerebroSpinal Fluid (CSF).
This fluid is made in the brain and circulated in a watertight, semiclosed hydraulic system formed
by connective tissue lining the cranium, spinal cord and sacrum. Craniosacral Practitioners work
with the Craniosacral Rhythm through gentle contact with the bones and muscles to address
acute and chronic neuromuscular and musculoskeletal issues.
Some conditions CRANIOSACRAL can address are:
Chronic Neck and Back Pain
Migraines and Headaches
Motor Coordination Impairments
Stress, Tension & Irritability
Chronic Fatigue
Vision & Hearing Difficulties
Scoliosis
Emotional Issues, Depression & Anxiety
TMJ
Fibromyalgia
Physical Pain
Desire for Balance
Craniosacral is given to a person fully clothed.
The practitioner feels the Craniosacral Rhythm listening for restrictions and imbalances. Then,
using very gentle techniques, the therapist releases any problem areas to relieve undue pressure
on your system.
As a small amount of pressure is applied to your body, a sense of softening, known as tissue
release occurs. The body becomes more relaxed and allows for an increased flow of energy,
fluids and blood to circulate. A lengthening of tissue fibers occurs returning to their original
dimensions. The result is you feel better, more energized and balanced.
Craniosacral is extremely relaxing and can have very profound effects.

or just to relax.
Reiki is an ancient Japanese form of energetic healing. This is very gentle work. The practitioner
uses light touch over areas of the receiver’s body known as chakras or energy centers. Intention
and ancient symbols are used to direct healing energy to the receiver. Kathryn also incorporates
crystals and healing sounds and scents to this work. This process brings balance and harmony to
the body, mind and spirit.
Reiki is received fully clothed and may be received in conjunction with Zen Shiatsu and
Craniosacral as well as other modalities.
